synopsis Kwame Opoku has been driving a cab on the streets of Los Angeles for 20 Years. A former captain in the Ghanaian Army, forced to flee to America after a Coup d’Etat he opposed, Kwame now lives a reclusive life in a country that is not his own, harboring anger over the betrayal he feels at the hands of his native land, haunted by a tragic event he blames himself for. Kwame begins to rediscover his compassion through his relationship with Roxanne, a drug addicted young woman struggling to come to terms with the death of her infant son, who lives in his apartment building. Their relationship re-awakens both to a sense of hope. But will their fragile union prove to be a source of salvation, or yet another means for two damaged souls to inflict more pain upon the other?
biography Edward Osei-Gyimah was born in London, England to Ghanaian parents. Having studied at London’s prestigious Dulwich College; Edward then went on to achieve a B.A. in English literature and Film theory at Brunel University. Having known from a very early age he wanted to be a film director, he spent the next six years working in the British media industry trying to gain production experience, serving on various broadcast series for Channel 4, Nickelodeon UK and Carlton Television as well as working as production assistant on numerous commercials and industrial films, all the while continuing to write his own scripts and make short films.
In 2005 Edward headed west for the University of Southern California where he received a Master in Fine Arts degree in Film Production. During his time at USC he has worked in nearly every capacity of production and in 2007 Edward’s short film: “Growing Old Disgracefully” won Best Romantic Comedy at the International Student Film Festival of Hollywood, it also screened at the 2008 Pan African Film Festival and the 2007 Scene First Film Festival . Edward has been the recipient of an A.M.P.A.S internship grant; which allowed him to undertake an internship at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Currently, Edward is developing numerous projects and writing feature scripts and recently finished shooting Hip Hop artist Melo Kan's music video for his underground hit: Still Wanna Leave. Director's IMDb Page
