synopsis
The Morning Star takes place near the end of the world where darkness is the dominant feature and the sun has not risen for some time. In this story the world itself is a prison in which humanity has been cast down to due to their transgressions against God at the beginning of time. This prison, in all its cause for suffering and malcontent, has gradually caused humanity to forego their physical lives and progressively self-destruct through wars, murder, and suicide. However, while this may appear to be a low note at the end of a sad tale, it’s this final act of death that can ultimately free mankind from their fleshy shackles and release them back towards their originally intended spiritual existence with God in Heaven. This opportunity for freedom was not present to humanity originally and was instead the result of an agreement between God and the first fallen of his created race of angels, Mara (the female representation of Lucifer, “The Light Bearer). Out of sorrow and empathy for her more ignorant brethren, she had committed herself to freeing mankind from a fate she shares with them. This she achieves with the help of the only other fallen angel with her on earth, C.H. Aron (the male representation of the Angel of Death), who follows Mara out of a sense of loyalty and friendship.
